RIDE TO THE ROOF OF THE WORLD
A truly unforgettable 2 week ride in far Northern India into the Himalayas and Spiti Valley
Out of this world scenery, unforgettable riding, wonderful culture and welcoming local people
If you do no other BDAC ride in your life then make the time to go on this one. You will never forget it
5 BIKES GONE - 5 LEFT
Rudyard Kipling had described Spiti valley as 'a world within a world' in his celebrated novel Kim. Over a century has passed, but not much has changed in this world, as it continues to remain relatively unknown, hidden between multiple folds of valleys and mountains, a world within another world. The name 'Spiti' means 'The Middle Land', i.e. the land between Tibet and India. Bordered by Ladakh in the north, Tibet to the east, Kinnaur to the south east, and the Kullu Valley to the south, this peculiar high altitude cold desert spans an area of almost 8000 sq km.
Our start and end city for this trip is Delhi in Northern India. This is where we will pick up and return our Royal Enfield Himalayan bikes and where we will leave our excess luggage while we are away for the 16 days riding. There are international flight connections from all over the world to Delhi and it is a major international hub and airport.
We will push North pretty hard for the first 2 days on the bikes so we can get clear of the “lowlands” and the high density population areas. .We will then start to acclimate to the altitudes ahead over the next 3 days so we lessen or eliminate the chance of suffering from altitude sickness when we head into altitudes of over 4000 metres.
We will then enter the Spiti valley and truly enter into another world for the next week. You will never forget this time on your bike; ever. Stunning mountain passes, soaring peaks, wide open plains and clean clear high altitude air.
